Chad grew up as the eldest sibling to three brothers and two sisters. He graduated with honors from Doniphan High School in 2000, where he excelled in football and powerlifting. Following high school, he attended Southeast Community College at Milford prior to his 13-year tenure with the Nebraska Department of Corrections. In 2016, Chad received a degree in Computer Information Technology from Southeast Community College at Lincoln. He began his career with the Nebraska Department of Education/Vocational Rehabilitation ending as a Senior IT Infrastructure Support Specialist.
After dating for four years, on April 16, 2005, Chad married Angela Hartman, (a high school classmate) and they spent their entire married life in Lincoln. Their son, Cooper joined their family in 2009, followed by daughters, Avery in 2011 and Callie in 2017. As a family they enjoyed special trips to Kansas City, Florida, and annual Thanksgiving trips to Arkansas to be with their family. Chad would never miss an opportunity to watch a Husker football game, take the kids fishing, or be an active father involved in every aspect of his children's lives.
Chad began coaching most of his children's sports including football, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer. Chad's passion for coaching started with his own children and later evolved into becoming a coach and mentor to many other young athletes. Chad started coaching Cooper within Lincoln Youth Football (LYF) in 2015 with the Elk's football organization. One of his proudest accomplishments was leading two of those teams to the city championship games. Even after Cooper had completed playing, Chad continued to volunteer and devoted his time to coaching new teams while inspiring his former players. He was recently honored and received the Andrew Harvey Memorial Award from the Elk's organization in 2023.
Chad will most be remembered for his loyalty and love for those he coached and mentored, his friends, and most importantly, his family. He is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Cooper J., Avery Olivia, and Callie Caroline; mother, Joan Luth; father, Rory Miles; grandparents, Russell and Marilou Luth, Bernard and Lovella Miles; brothers, James Russell Miles, wife Ashley, Austin Lee Miles, wife LeTecha, Taylor Allen Miles, fiancé Taylor Ruple; sisters, Nicole Lynn Miles and Amy Marie Miles; parent in-laws, Randy and Stephanie Hartman; brother in-law, Christopher Hartman; sisters in-law, Staci Nelson, husband Robb, and Laura Throener, husband Toby; nieces and nephews, Ethan Marcotte, Natalie Marcotte, Rigleigh Nelson, Tenley Throener, Rowdy Nelson, Tucker Throener, Harris Marcotte, and Nora J.
