Carol Lee Wendelin, 94, of Martell, passed away peacefully at the Wilber Care Center, on October 27, 2022. She was born on July 16,1928 on her family’s farm in Martell, Nebraska. She and her brother Daryl were the only children of Elmer and Helen Bohl.
After Carol graduated from Lincoln High School she went on to study at the Teachers College at The University of Nebraska. Carol taught at Central School District 147 or better known as the Sprague/Martell Community Center. Carol was very active in her church and community. She was an extremely hard worker and spent most of her days outside working on the family farm. If you couldn’t find her at the family home place that meant she was either cutting thistles or picking up cans along the county roads.
Carol was predeceased in death by husband Roland, brother Daryl, Daughter-in-law Diane Wendelin, grandchildren Kirk and Brady Wendelin. She is survived by her five sons, Terry (Cindy), Scott (Kelli), Rex, Lonnie, Kirby (Julie). Grandchildren Eric (Heather) Wendelin, Jill (Travis) Coe, Lori (Russell) Siedhoff, Erin Wendelin, Cody (Mikayla) Wendelin, Elizabeth (Andy) Perez, Chris (Nicki) Wendelin, Stephanie (Jason) Elledge, Bradley Wendelin, Mark Franken and 15 Great-Grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Martell Methodist Church on November 4 at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given at the Wilber Care Center.
