Robert Woodland Wiswell, Jr. (Bobbie, Wisze, Bob, Long Bob, Papa Bob) passed peacefully and unexpectedly into rest at Sutter Roseville Medical Center on October 17th where he was recovering from pneumonia. Born July 15th 1943 to Robert W. Wiswell Sr. and Mildred Hansen Wiswell. Bob was a lifelong resident of Lincoln, CA and a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School.
Bob was beloved by many as their “pool man”, owner/operator of Anchor Pool Service which he established in the 60’s with his late wife Nedra but he was first and foremost a sheep and cattle rancher headquartered on the ranch purchased by his great- great grandparents and Placer County pioneers O.P. and Sally Richardson in the 1860s.
Bob was a past master of Nicolaus Lodge #129 F. & A.M., a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Ben Ali Shrine. He was devoted to community betterment and active in many civic and philanthropic endeavors. He was past president of Placer County Farm Bureau, active in California Farm Bureau Federation, a member of Tahoe Cattleman’s Assoc and Past Chair of the Placer County Resource Conservation District. Bob was an active member of Silver Star Parlor #63, Native Sons of the Golden West and many other organizations and endeavors.
Bob played basketball in high school and spent summers growing up in the Sierra Nevada mountains helping his family run sheep. Bob married his late wife Nedra Jean Dennett on Feb 26, 1966, with whom he had three children, Barbie, Heidi and Danny and enjoyed many joyful years. Bob was kindhearted, life loving, practical, hard-working, with a quick wit and keen steel grey eyes. Family was Bob’s priority and family gatherings, especially his own Birthday and Christmas were his absolute favorite events. Bob remarried Phyllis Cox and was blessed in recent years by her love and that of her family. Bob loved camping and fishing. Annual camping trips with extended friends and family to Bodega Bay and mountain areas where he grew up running sheep were never to be missed.
Bob is survived by his wife Phyllis Cox, Daughter Barbara (Duncan) Smith, son Dan (Julie) Wiswell, sister Marla (Bob) Kaper, Grandchildren Kelsea (Christian) Espinoza, Hunter Lake, Maddie Wiswell, Carson Hunter, George Smith, Hannah Smith, Walter Wiswell, and great granddaughter Elliana Espinoza. Bob was predeceased by his wife Nedra, daughter Heidi (Robert) Pruitt, and granddaughter Elena Wiswell.
Visitation for Bob will be held 5-7pm Wednesday November 16, 2022 and 5-7pm Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 406 H Street, Lincoln, CA 95648. Graveside service and committal will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Manzanita Cemetery in Lincoln, followed by a memorial gathering at Mount Pleasant Farm Bureau Hall. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital of Northern California.
