Robert “Bob” Airo was born January 30, 1930 in Lincoln, California and passed away peacefully on February 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary and by his beloved wife, Ila. Bob is survived by his brother, Bill, his children, Cy and Roger, wife Barbara, granddaughter, Kelly, stepsons, Dan, John and Robert Pineschi and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Lincoln but for the years 1950 through 1953 when he served is country as an Army ambulance driver and medic during the Korean War. Back home in Lincoln he served his community for many years as a volunteer fireman.
He enjoyed baseball, archery, hunting, fishing and anything with wheels, especially motorcycles. He was a talented baseball player and an expert marksman. He competed successfully in archery and pistol competitions for many years.
Above all he was a devoted father and a kind and supportive friend. A gentle, unselfish and unassuming man, he will be greatly missed and his memory cherished by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on March 1st from 12:00 to 6:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 at Lincoln Funeral Home, 406 H Street, Lincoln. A funeral mass will be held on March 2nd at 10:00 A.M.at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 280 Oak Tree Lane, Lincoln.
