John Abbot Kuehl

John A. Kuehl, age 82, passed away December 16, 2017, at 12:40 a.m, at his residence in Lima Ohio. John was born September 18, 1935 in Delphos, OH, to Alvie and Olivia (Kershner) Kuehl who preceded him in death. On October 2, 1954, he married Mary Jean Keller who survives.

John graduated from St. John’s Catholic School in Lima. He retired from R. G. Dun Cigar factory after 40 years where he was a Foreman. He loved to golf, play the organ, travel with their camper, listen to his Bose stereo, watch Ohio State football and be with his family.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his six children: Steven Kuehl of Dublin, OH, David (Joyce) Kuehl of Buckland, OH, Janice Gass of Alliance, OH, Larry (Shellie) Kuehl of Wapakoneta, OH, Susan (Tom Burke) Backs of St. Marys, OH, and Sharon (Brent) Burris of Lakeview, OH, 15 grandchildren: Christian Kuehl, Caroline Kuehl, Joseph Kuehl, Frances Kuehl, Maria Kuehl, John Gass, Jenna (Matthew) Dress, Laura Kuehl, Carly Kuehl, Dylan Kuehl, Summer Kuehl, Edward Backs, Marcus (Rebecca) Backs, Derek Backs, and DJ (Michelle) Burris and 8 great-grandchildren: Roman, Emmett, and Marcus Backs Jr., Eddrick, Edie, and Edson Backs, Brooklyn and Colton Burris, 1 brother: Robert Kuehl of Wapakoneta, OH and 2 sisters, Martha Bingham and Anna Brooks both of Lima, OH.

He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Charlie Dress, a brother, A. William Kuehl, a sister, Kathryn Keel, brothers-in-law James Keel, George Bingham, and Claude K. Brooks, and sisters-in-law Mary Kuehl and Glennabelle Kuehl.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church. Officiating the service will be Fr. David Ross. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery.
