John Jordan, 62, of Lima, died at 3:07 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011, at his residence, surrounded by his family after a two year long battle with cancer. He was born on June 9, 1948, in Lima, to Victor and Lucille (Jones) Jordan. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Cridersville. On Jan. 25, 1969, he married Phyllis Buell who survives.
Mr. Jordan retired after 31 years of service at the Lima Army Tank Plant where he worked in the press room. Prior to that, he was employed at Baldwin Lima Hamilton. He was a member of Lima Missionary Baptist Church and U.A.W. Local 2071, Lima. He enjoyed woodcarving, especially birds, painting, his aquarium, four-wheeling, motorcycle riding and camping with his grandchildren and family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who made serving the Lord his priority.
Also surviving are four children: Denise (Keith) Rambin, Steve (Shelly) Jordan, Amy (Brian) Stewart and Adam Jordan all of Lima; eight grandchildren: Lindsey Hall, Abby Hall, Tyler Hall, Tori Jordan, Brayden Stewart, Andrew Jordan, Lydia Jordan and Hunter Jordan; four stepgrandchildren: P.F.C. Jacob Pignataro, Tyler Rambin, Hunter Rambin and Collin Rambin; six brothers: Richard (Bessie) Jordan of Cridersville, Dave (Carolyn) Jordan of Lima, Larry (Paula) Jordan of Wapakoneta, Danny Jordan of Cridersville, Shelby (Karen) Jordan and Craig (Julie) Jordan both of Lima.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Lima Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Terry Brock and Denny Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Lima Missionary Baptist Church or St. Rita’s Hospice.
