Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Home, 500 Harbins Road, Lilburn, GA 30047.
Funeral services will be held at noon in the chapel following the visitation.
Burial will follow at North Atlanta Memorial Park, 5188 Winters Chapel Road, Doraville, Georgia, 30360.
Joe Caldwell was born in Athens, Georgia on October 24, 1931. After his family moved to Hogansville, Georgia, he graduated from Hogansville High School. He married Mattie Rachel Damron on December 24, 1949 in Hogansville, after they both completed their shift at the Colonial grocery store. He was in the Army and served in Korea. While in the service, Joe received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infrantrymans Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.
After returning from the Army, Joe graduated from Georgia State University. Joe worked as a salesman for National Electric and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a co-owner of Jay Bee Company, a tobacco and candy wholesaler. He retired in 1994 and was an active Mason for many years.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents E.E. and Ida Caldwell and his wife, Rachel D. Caldwell.
Joe is survived by his daughters Theresa Glover, Lynn Huffines and Peggy Caldwell and their husbands Phil Glover, Doug Huffines and Andrew Livingston; his brother Chandler Caldwell; his sister Ann Goodwin; and his grand-daughter Lauren Glover.
