Ivy Dyer Monteith passed away on June 16, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Colin Monteith III, her brother Eric Dyer and her sisters Sylvia and Valerie. She is survived by her sister Margaret, son, David McGinnis, daughter-in-law, Nancy McGinnis, and two grandchildren, Michael and Kimberly McGinnis.
Ivy was born in Salisbury Wiltshire England to Gertrude and Vernon Dyer. Ivy met David’s father John B. McGinnis in England during WWII. As a GI Bride, Ivy came to the United States in 1946. She was hired by Southern Bell as a Cord-board Operator and retired in 1982 after enjoying a 35-year career. For many years she was a Mary Kay Consultant as well as an Auxiliary Volunteer at DeKalb Medical Hospital. She shared good times with friends at the Aquatic Center in Lilburn doing water aerobics.
Ivy loved her God and was active in her church. She always welcomed people she met with a big smile.
