Anna “Amy” Mae Lockwood, 84, of Lilburn, died Thursday, January 28, 2021 of COVID-19 pneumonia at Northside Hospital Duluth. Mrs. Lockwood was born in Akron, Ohio on April 28, 1936, the daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret Hamilton.
She retired from the telephone company in 1991 with 36 years of service. There, she was elected co-leader of the Entertainment Committee, serving 6,600 Bellsouth employees. As a volunteer for the Telephone Pioneers, she planned many gatherings for the Atlanta Chapter. She was a faithful member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church in Stone Mountain. Amy had a passion for helping others. She was known for her quick wit, gracious love and motherly spirit.
Amy enjoyed cooking, crafting and arranging flowers at the Flower Basket in Lawrenceville, Georgia. She used both time and talent to support The Dream House of Lilburn and its mission to improve the quality of life for medically fragile children. Most importantly, she cherished the last decade of her life, as she was able to spend it with her goddaughter, Ashley and her granddaughter, Shiloh. With the birth of Shiloh, Amy had a new special and chosen purpose in her last season here on Earth.
Mrs. Lockwood was preceded in death by her Father, Clifford Hamilton; her Mother, Margaret Hamilton; a brother, Bob Hamilton Sr.; a sister, Norma Jean Waite; and her loving husband of 31 years, Walter Lockwood.
