He grew up on a farm and also raised his family farming in Pennsylvania.
He was the son of the late Walter Woodrow and Marian Earlene Craig Mooney and was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Mooney and sister, Marian Jean Mooney Hanes.
Surviving is his longtime companion, Margie Elder; daughter, Lois Cox; sons, Joseph Mooney, Philip Mooney (Kay), Samuel Mooney (Tracy), and Marcus Mooney (Denise); grandchildren, John Michael Mooney (Angela) and Brandy Mooney; great-grandson, Damon Vickery; and brother, LeRoy Mooney (Laura).
He will be laid to rest, privately, at Hope Cemetery in Cranesville, PA.
