A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 W. Swannanoa Ave., Liberty, NC 27298.
Don was the son of the late Shannon Donald Johnston and Pauline Gabriel Johnston. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Kraft Johnston; son, Leonard “Len” Johnston; and two sisters.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Fay Crouse Johnston; sons, Rick Johnston (Pam) and Benson Smith; daughter, Vanessa Ward (Eddie); daughter in law; Linda Johnston; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Don owned and operated a Sunoco service station in Kane, Pennsylvania for many years. He was an excellent cook, a loving husband, and a simple, quiet man.
