Lynda was actively engaged in church committees. She was a former President of the Ladies Auxiliary at Julian Volunteer Fire Dept., and a retired seamstress from Cone Mills Corporation. She was an artist, seamstress and cook. She did it all and she did it well. She was a wife, mom, sister and friend that you wish you had. If you were blessed to be in her life, you knew her sweet spirit, welcoming embrace and her love for her family, friends and her Lord.
Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, 5056 NC-22, Franklinville, NC; burial will follow in Smithwood Christian Church Cemetery. She will lie in repose at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty.
She was the daughter of the late Lester Alexander and Mary Evelyn Phillippi Clontz and was also preceded in death by daughter Lynnette Layton; brothers, Bill, Alan and Brian Clontz.
Surviving is her husband of 58 years Dennis V. Layton; daughter, Debbie Layton; son, Darren Layton and fiancé Maria Koenig; grandchildren, Lauren, Allison and Julia Layton; sisters, Judy Craddock, D’Ann Kivett, and Donna Gilmore; brothers, Steve, Johnny, David, Rick and Jeff Clontz.
