John was a long time employee of Food Lion in Liberty before his retirement and loved his Food Lion family and community. He loved all animals, especially his 2 dogs Jasper and Ashley.
A memorial service will be held on September 10, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty, NC with Pastor Darrell Massey officiating.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Julian Barber and Phoebe Wicker Hamer; sister, Aggie Hamer.
He is survived by his wife, Tina D. Hamer; step-son, William Wright (Maighan); grandson, Samuel Wright; sisters, Ann Hester (Mark), Sharon Smith; brothers, Julian (Jay) Hamer, Jr. (Helen), and Richard Hamer (Susan).
