Opal M. Oldham, age 66, mother, sister, and good friend went to live with the Lord on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospital. Opal was the daughter of William "Bill" and Elmina Smith. She was born in Springer, New Mexico on July 15, 1951. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from East High School. She married Robert Richard Hatfield in 1975 and then later divorced. In 1985, she remarried to Ray Allen Oldham and also divorced. Opal was a member of Kensington Baptist Church for many, many years and later found a religious home with Claycomo Baptist Church. Opal worked for Sears, McDonalds, Captain D's in Kansas City, and Waffle House in Liberty.
Opal is preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her stepchildren, Robert (Carol) Hatfield of Azle, Texas, Janice (Dennis) Bell of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, Richard (Michelle) Hatfield of Kansas City, Missouri and Randy Hatfield of Kansas City, Missouri; her birth-children, Lisa Renee Holt of Osceola, Missouri and Ray Holt of New York City, New York; her sister, Marjorie (Don) Marsh of Higginsville, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and loving friends.
A celebration of life will be held in Opal's honor on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a visitation held one hour prior at 10:00 AM at Claycomo Baptist Church, 312 East Longfellow Street, Kansas City, MO 64119.In lieu of flowers, contributions in Opal's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
