Mary Carkeek, 92, of Liberty, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018. Mary was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 6, 1926 to Annelle and Marshall Libbert. She was a member of the graduating class of Liberty High School in 1944.
Mary worked many jobs throughout her life. In her 30s, she was secretary of the Liberty Methodist Church. At 40, she started with Southwestern Bell Telecommunications and stayed for 20 years. Upon retirement, she became a Southwest Bell Pioneer. While living in Bella Vista, Arkansas, she also enjoyed volunteering at the Bentonville Hospital gift shop. She enjoyed participating in church events and committees, as well as sewing and camping. Mary was also a proud member of the United Methodist Women. Mary is survived by one son, Terry (Teresa) Carkeek; one daughter, Kathleen (Jay) Ray; five grandchildren with spouses; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and two brothers; and her husband, Ted.
A funeral service will be conducted in Mary’s honor on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 3:00 PM, with visitation at 2:00 PM, at Liberty United Methodist Church, 1001 Sunset Ave, Liberty, Missouri 64068.
