Maria Jorge Macedo

Maria Jorge Macedo, age 100, was reunited with her husband in God’s embrace on June 18, 2022. She passed away peacefully in the Gladstone, Missouri home of her granddaughter, Antoinette Angelic Edwards, surrounded by her family. Services will be held at a future date in San Jose, California, where she spent most of her life and was well-known in the Portuguese community.

Maria was born on February 8th 1922 in the village of Madalena, Pico Azores, to Jose Jorge Silva and Luisa Amaral. She married the love of her life, Antonio P. Macedo. Maria and Antonio went on to have two daughters, Maria Angela Mendez and Luisa Macedo Cusimano, who proceeded to grow their families.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Luisa; her beloved husband, Antonio; and her great-grandchild, Dillon Anthony Ponder, among others.

Maria Macedo is survived by her daughters, Maria and Luisa; her grandchildren, Winston James De Diemar, Antoinette Angelic Edwards, Carlo Antonio Cusimano, and Michael Andrew Cusimano; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other family members, friends, and loved ones.
