Charles Winifred Stubbs, 78, Excelsior Springs, Missouri formerly of Texas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2015. Charles was born May 11, 1937 in Cranfills Gap, Texas to the late James Clifford and Elnora (Enger) Stubbs, and was raised by the late, Rachael Stubbs. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. On October 9, 1965 he married Gloria Mae Hobratschk. Charles retired from Stubbs Petroleum after 20+ years of service and in retirement enjoyed being an escort at the airport. Charles was a lifelong member of Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches; most recently Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior Springs, MO. He also held memberships in Rotary International, Lions Club, Optimist Club, and Crime Stoppers. Charles was preceded in death by four brothers, Carroll Stubbs, Gene Stubbs, John Stubbs and E.T. Stubbs and one sister, Estelle Burns. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gloria Mae Stubbs; daughter, Lori Ann Kramer and husband Zachary, Kearney, MO; son, Kevin Stubbs and wife Rebekah, Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren, Ella Kramer, Samuel Kramer, Abigail Kramer and Versailles Stubbs; sisters, Betty Haven and Sarah Gohlke and husband Robert; brother, James Stubbs and wife Barbara; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Winkler and husband Rodney, Dorothy Stubbs and Martha Stubbs, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of his Life will be at 11:00a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 The Grove Rd., The Grove, Texas. Interment will be at 2:30p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015, in the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Cranfills Gap, Texas, St. Paul Lutheran Church, The Grove, Texas, or the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
