LEXINGTON – Terry Lee Butler, 61, died at home on Thursday, October 18, 2018 following a bout with cancer.Terry is survived by his wife, Melanie Hutchinson Butler; brother, John Butler, Jr. (Jenny); nephew, J. C. and niece, Jenna, all of Lexington; Melanie’s mother, Carol Woodhead; Melanie’s eight brothers and sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces from Alaska. Terry was predeceased by his children, Nicole (Nikki) Lee Butler and Shawn Casey Butler.Born on September 26, 1957 in Greenfield, Indiana, he was a son of the late John (Jack) C. and Mabel (Terry) Plummer Butler. Terry graduated from Lexington High School in 1975 where he played football, basketball and ran track. He was an avid bowler and, after high school, he managed a bowling alley in Augusta, Georgia. After moving back to the Lexington area, he worked for many years as a diesel mechanic in Columbia. Terry enjoyed football, NASCAR, and boating on Lake Murray. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Fred Folston will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Heartstrings Hospice - Lexington, 1087 Harbor Drive, Suite B, West Columbia, SC 29169 and would like to thank Katie for her help during Terry’s illness.
