LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Roy Ernest Dooley, 77, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at West Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Dooley will be placed in the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Brad Davis will conduct the services. Active pallbearers will be his 6 grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Mr. Dooley was born November 3, 1935 in Lexington, SC and joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 24, 2012. He was a son of the late Ernest C. Dooley and Hassie Shirey Dooley. Mr. Dooley was a member of West Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was owner of Dooley’s Bait Farm from 1974 to 1992. Mr. Dooley was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He was a long time member of Graham and Carroll Hunting Club in Smoak, SC.
Mr. Dooley is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Edith Dooley; daughter, Sharon D. Etheridge (Wesley), Katherine D. Pearson (David) of Lexington, Karen D. Christley (Steve) of Wilmington, NC, Melinda L. Boldt (Teddy) of Lexington; grandchildren, Ashley (Brett), Tyler, Dusty, Dillon, Dalton, Amy, Stephen and Alex. Surviving siblings are Betty Backman, Mary Gable and Morris Dooley. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Dooley. Roy Dooley will be greatly missed. He touched many lives and was loved by family and friends.
