Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wanda Hudson Bennett, his daughter, Cathy Bennett Batts, and brother John Terry Bennett
Survived by daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Bennett Crawford (Donnie) and son, Robert (Bob) McClellan Bennett, Jr. (Ashley). Stepchildren, Hope Martin Montague, Alison Collins Hudgins (Stuart), Robert Clinton Collins,III (Trey), and William Blake Collins. Grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, Brynleigh, and Brystol and 7 step-grandchildren. Great-grandchildren, Lizzie, Lane, Sutton and Oaklynn and 8 step-great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Tennessee, he started working in the car business in his early teens at Jenkins and Wynne. He owned and operated Bob Bennett Dodge, Bob Bennett Suzuki, and worked at Hawkins-Corlew Chevrolet, and Jenkins and Wynne Ford in Clarksville, TN. He moved to South Carolina in 1976 and owned and operated Bob Bennett Ford until his retirement in 2008. After retirement, he and his wife spent their winters in Okeechobee, Florida, and several months a year at Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
Mr. Bennett received numerous accolades from Ford Motor Co. for his successes in business. He served on the board or was a member of numerous charitable and business organizations. He was an avid fisherman and traveled to many states and countries to fish. He enjoyed hunting and fine dining.

A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 N. Lake Dr, Lexington, South Carolina 29072, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM.
