Murray Edward Jeffers

Murray Edward Jeffers, 81, life-long resident of Lexington County SC, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Born to Joseph Edward and Zora Davis Jeffers on June 13, 1942, Murray was the middle child of 5 siblings.

Murray fondly known as PaPa or Pop was a humble, selfless, godly man who loved his family, friends, and church. He dedicated almost 40 years to being a deacon of Red Bank Baptist where he would share the gospel and provide mentorship to others. His favorite pastime was hunting deer and turkey at his beloved “Aunt Doll’s” Hunting Club. It has been said to love him was easy and like a warm hug from God. The world lost a great man, but Heaven gained one.

Pop is survived by daughter, Sherri Jaynes (Scott) of Gilbert, SC and granddaughter he raised, Tara Greenwood (Eric) of Lexington, SC; treasured grandchildren, John Ashley Roof (Kristen), Kristen Roof, Brandon Jeffers, Sarah Johnson (Brad), Taylor Jeffers-Gray (Cole), Michael Yates, Nate Roof, Riley Yates, Jasmin Jeffers, Jordan Jeffers, Kali Jeffers, Jeremy Holliman, Kassidy Roof, Emery Johnson, Watson Greenwood, Kourtney Roof, Finley Johnson, Eloise Roof, and Elie Roof; sisters, Patsy Jones and Elaine Hearn; and brother, Thomas “Dickie” (Brenda) Jeffers.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mary Helen; his son, Murray Randall “Randy” Jeffers; daughter, Amy Jeffers; grandson, Desmond “Desi” Jeffers; and his brother, Ronald Jeffers.

A funeral service for Murray will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Red Bank Baptist Church, 1357 South Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29073 with a visitation to follow in the church sanctuary. A burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Ashley, Brad, Cole, Eric, Michael, Nate, Riley, and Watson.
