Mary Alice Taylor

Mary Alice Hicks Taylor, widow of Arthur Taylor, Jr. died on April 23, 2022. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Graveside service will be held at Lybrand-Rikard Family Cemetery, Mineral Springs Road on Thursday, April 28 at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Johnny Gunter, Tim Gunter, Allen Collins, Ricky Taylor, Terry Hicks and Eddie Hicks.

Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late Millege Franklin and Jessie Rikard Hicks. Survivors are her children, Nina Sawyer of Savannah, GA, Jeffery and Shirley Taylor of Gilbert, SC and Todd and Buffy Taylor of Pittsboro, NC; grandchildren, Travis Sawyer (Alan Skolweck), Hope Crapps (Dustin), Jessica Lybrand (Cody), Maddi Henson (Tyler), Toni Branham (Rion), Allen Collins, and Nico Cope (Alicia Holmes) along with ten great grandchildren.

Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her brother, Robert Hicks and sister-in-law, Grace Hicks; sister, Mamie Gunter and brother-in-law, Bob Gunter; sister, Carrie Reeder and brother-in-law, George Reeder; sister, Margie Bedenbaugh and brother-in-law, Coy Bedenbaugh; sister, Helen Stoudemire and brother-in-law, Harvey Stoudemire and son-in-law, Thomas O’Neal Sawyer.

She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first. She will be deeply missed. Friends and co-workers will remember her as manager of Dodd’s Store in Lexington, Owner of Mary’s Fashion Shoppe in Lexington, and working in the Lexington County Treasurer’s Office.
