Funeral services for Buck Smith, 94, will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday July 6, 2021 at Red Bank UMC. The family will receive family and friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
Mr. Smith passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 1, 2021. He was born on August 22, 1926 and was the son of the late Archie and Lillian Sharpe Smith. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Army after serving in World War II. He worked at South Carolina Aeronautics Commission, where he retired. He was also a member of Red Bank UMC.
He is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Ruby Bouye Smith; his children, Steve Smith (Betsy), Linda Cliett (Rick); grandchildren, Eronn Amick (Bobby), Eric Smith (Heather), Joshua Hodge (Tammy), Jessica Haygood (Nick), Daniel Cliett (Aghtan); great grands, Wesley, Tabitha, Watson, Walker, Sebian, Turner, Gabrielle, Dalton, Layton, Dylan and Chloe. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Ruby Diane Smith, two brothers and a sister.
