We are so sorry for your loss. I worked with Russell at the SCDMV and he was great to work with, always looked out for his friends. He gave me circus tickets to take my family and my son loved it so much. Russell will be missed by all that knew him.

I worked, jabbed, and ribbed Russell about Clemson and Carolina for years and he gave just as good as he got. Every time the Gamecocks lost, he'd find an outrageous picture taped to his door when he got to the office.

I hope you rest well my dear friend. I'm going to miss you and all the humor you brought to this world. You were a one of kind and very special to me and a lot of others. We'll all miss you running around the building wearing the turkey hat!

A lot of posts indicate Russ's ability to make us laugh. Could there be a better thing to be said of an individual? I think not. I can attest to the fact that he loved to laugh as much as he loved to make us all laugh. Many an extended encounter of deep laughter with Russ would end up with the both of us saying our doggone lungs hurt. You know, the kind of laughter that is accompanied by rivers of tears. The Bible says that laughter is like a medicine to the soul and with that in mind, and in alignment with a lot of the posts, that would make Russell the Doctor of Laughter. You will be missed, my dear friend, by everyone that had the privilege of knowing someone of your rare caliber!

So sorry to hear about Russ. He was such a genuine person. I will always remember his beautiful smile.

Rest in peace Dear Russell. I remember when you and I were paired up traveling around the state together. Every car ride with you was a hilarious adventure. I’ll never forget the positive energy and humor you brought every single day. Your brightness will be missed.

I worked with Russell his entire 30 year career at DMV. He kept me laughing and smiling during all of those 30 years. We both Loved the Gamecocks and I could always count on Russell to bring  me a Poster of the Football team with the schedule for that season. He would get me tickets for the Shrine Circus so I could take my Grandson and would have a hotdog and drink waiting when we got there. He loved to have Christmas get togethers at his house and I have attended several. Russell I know you have everyone smiling in Heaven and your smile will always be cherished by your friends.

I worked with Russell at the SCDMV for many years. Russell was a great guy, and he was always nice, and always smiling,  and always made you laugh.  I always knew I could count on him for anything I may have needed or just someone to talk to. Such a great guy, big gamecock fan.  I went to many Christmas parties that he had  at his house, and he was just a good guy to be around, and enjoy your time sharing friendship with him. Rest in peace Russell until we meet again. I worked with Russell for 20 plus years at three of the  DMV offices. He always had a smile on his face. He was a big gentle giant with a good heart. I enjoyed our time together and friendship at the DMV. RIP Russell and to the Lentz’s family our prayers are with you

I met Russ about a year ago at Ascension Lutheran Church. The first time we met he greeted me with a smile, hug, and a piece of candy (LifeSavers Mint orange flavor). I enjoyed attending church meetings with him for three reasons: he made me laugh, hugs and candy. A couple of weeks ago I saw him at church. As if on cue as I walked down the aisle to get communion, he slid down to the end of the pew and gave me a hug and candy, wearing matching Gamecocks shorts and shirt. I am so glad I didn’t miss my last chance to laugh, hug and get my candy from someone who always made my day! I will miss seeing you on Sunday’s, but I know you are at peace with your loved ones! Condolences to your family!

Russell was a very dear friend of ours that spanned over 50 years!  Even though we moved to North Carolina we stayed in contact with one another.  Our friendship will be cherished.  We are left with many memories that we will hold close to our hearts.  He was that friend that we will never forget.  Prayers to all his family and friends, especially Deborah.  So glad he brought you to visit us this year.

I worked with Russell for 15 years at the DMV in Blythewood. We loved to talk sports, and he loved to joke around. Even though I have two college degrees, Russell would tell me that I never graduated from high school, simply because I couldn't find my high school diploma. He also called me "DMV's Sports Information Director". He was a great soul and we shall all miss him very much. Vaya con dios, Russell!
