He proudly served 6 years in the Marine Corp achieving the rank of Corporal. During his time in the Marine’s, he received the 3rd Award Expert Rifle -Meritorious Mast. After the Marines, he worked most of his career in heavy truck sales as an outside salesman. He received Salesman of the Year in 1989 from Stone Heavy Vehicles. He was honored by the Aiken County Police for saving a police officer’s life during their line of duty. He had a passion for the outdoors: loved hunting, an avid fisherman and was in multiple local semi-pro fishing clubs which he made lifelong friendships with.
He loved spending time with his family, friends and granddaughter, Faith. He loved taking trips with family to the mountains, beach and other adventures. They were extra special when Scott and Faith were able to join. He will be dearly missed by all those close to him.
He leaves behind loving family members; wife, Karen West; son, Scott West; granddaughter, Faith West; brothers, Randy (Vickie) West, Bruce (Margo) West; loving in-laws, Mike (Lisa) Turner, Debbie (Les) Doty and Teresa Lindler and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon H. West and Teresa B. West.
The family will receive family and friends at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072, on Monday, November 25 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Highway, Lexington, South Carolina 29072, with burial at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29072.
