Annie Sue Owens, 91, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away on Monday, October 2nd, 2023. She was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on December 11th, 1931 to the late John Snipes and Ethel Tinsley Snipes.
Sue was a member of Mt. Horeb Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering and quilting with many of her dear friends from the church. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who referred to her as, “Mama Sue.” She retired from Allied Chemical, where she worked for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Leah Wingard (Jerry) of Lexington, SC; two grandchildren, Whitney W. Dawson (Brad) of New Jersey, and Jerrod K. Wingard (Monica) of Gilbert, SC; and four great-grandchildren, Riley Grace Dawson, Fisher K. Dawson, Ava C. Wingard, and Cameron K. Wingard.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ted M. Owens; her son, Keith A. Owens; and her brothers, William F. Snipes, J.T. Snipes, and Charles Snipes.
A memorial service will be held for Sue at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072, followed by a visitation.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and much love to Donna Alford, Amanda Dawson, Lynne Short, and Monica Wingard for their time, compassion, and care of “Mama Sue.”
