Norman Edwin Labbe of 13 Paradise St., Gorham, NH, and a former longtime resident of Wescott St. in Berlin, NH, passed away on October 7th, 2024. He was born March 4th,1931 to Willie and Edith Labbe. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1950. Norman worked in the local paper mills as a 1st class pipefitter and then as the fire protection leader in the Cascade Mill. Norman retired in 1993 with 43 years of service in the local mills.
Norman served in the NH National Guard as the supply Sergeant E6 of Headquarters Battery. He retired from the Guard in 1991 after serving 30 years.
Norman loved camping with his family of five children and spent many summers at Littlefield Beaches Campground in Greenwood, ME.
Norman was head over heels in love with his wife, Irene (Laflamme) Labbe. They were married for 70 years and spent all their time together. They were famous for walking all over Berlin, pedaling bikes in their Florida mobile home parks, and hitting the gym on a very regular basis.
Norman is survived by his wife, Irene, sister Dorothy (Labbe) Bilodeau, son Donald Labbe of Florissant, MO, daughter Shirley Musser and husband Ted, of Deland, FL, daughter Debra Erickson and husband Dan, of Salem, ME, son Daren Labbe and wife Rachel of Turner, ME, and son Daniel Labbe and wife Christine, of Durham, ME. Grandchildren Jesse and Hunter Erickson, Kathryn Thibodeau, Kelsey Wing, Claudia and Anna Labbe. Great grandchildren Aidan Erickson, Sawyer and Trace Erickson, Elliot and Wilder Wing, Arlin and Lochlin Thibodeau.
He was predeceased by five brothers, William and Elmer Labbe of Vista, CA, Mike Madore of Stark, NH, Thomas and Ronald Madore of Stamford, NY, and sister Aurore Madore Aikens Babson of Berlin, NH.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish of Berlin and Gorham. Internment will be at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, ME.
