LEWISTON- Lorena M. DuBois, 48, of 376 Pond Road, Lewiston passed away at her residence with her family by her side after a five year courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 1, 1963 the daughter of Antonin and Gracia (Theriault) Mercier and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School Class of 1982. She married her best friend, Robert A. DuBois on April 15, 1983. Lorena started her career at Cottles/Hannford Brothers and then moved on to Shaws, and was later full time employed with Norton Insurance and Bill Johnson Insurance. At the time of her death she was employed at Tyler Technologies in Falmouth, Maine where she was the Payroll Manager. She always put her family first. The warmest memory about her is how much she cared about her children. She always made sure holidays and birthdays were special for her children and family. Her warm and friendly smile will be missed by everyone. Her passion was traveling with her family all over the world. Through her fight with cancer, her attitude was to never say I wish I would have…. She lived life to her fullest and never let cancer get in the way. On October 2008 her efforts to promote awareness to metastatic breast cancer, the state of Maine and the city of Lewiston have proclaimed October 13th metastatic breast cancer awareness day. The state of Maine and the city of Lewiston were the first to proclaim this day for the caring and well-being of other amidst her own personal journey. She is survived by her loving husband Robert DuBois of Lewiston; her son Eric and her daughter Jessica; her mother Gracia Mercier of Greene; a sister Tanya Mercier of Greene; her brothers Steven Mercier and his wife Dianne of St. Petersburg, Florida, Joseph Mercier of Hemet, California, Mathew Mercier and his wife Christine of Livermore, Anthony Mercier and his wife Kelly of Lisbon Falls and Douglas Mercier and his wife Pamela of Gorham; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Antonin Mercier. The family would like to thank all of the special nurses at St. Mary’s and CMMC oncology department in Lewiston. We would like to thank Beacon Hospice for their loving care. Lorena and her family cannot say thank you enough to everyone at Tyler Technologies for their love and support through her battle. A Memorial service honoring Lorena’s memory will be celebrated on Thursday at 11AM at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
