SABATTUS- Lee D. Bruneau passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday in Sabattus at 53. Born in Lewiston, Maine, and a Lewiston- Auburn native, graduated Lewiston High School class of 1990. Lee was a United States Postal Service Mail Carrier for 26 years throughout the Androscoggin area. A Combat Veteran in the United States Army; 170th Infantry Brigade. His first tour of duty was a hardship tour stationed in Korea at the DMZ, he was then stationed at Baumholder, Germany in 1993 where he was later deployed to Bosnia in December 1995 and returned home September 1996. Lee was featured in the New York Times for his peacekeeping mission in Bosnia/Serbia in January 1996.
A lover of golf, pool, and music. He had many friends at the Webber Social Club and the American Legion Post 153. A proud man, a smart man, an independent man- taken far too soon from a world he only visited.
Lee is survived by his daughters Celina T. Grondin and her husband Joshua and their sons of Buckfield, and Brooke R. Bruneau of Lewiston. His parents Stephen D. Bruneau and Diane R. Leblond, his sister Wendy J. Demers, brother in-law Leo Demers, their son Nicholas Demers of Auburn, his brother Ricky S. Bruneau, sister in-law Michelle Bruneau their children, Patrick, Nathan, and Natalie of Massachusetts.
