1916 - 2010
Auburn - Ida M. Dumont, 93, formerly of Maison Marcotte and The Sarah Frye Home, passed away Tuesday evening February 23rd at The Hospice House with family at her side. She was born July 27, 1916 in Frenchville, Maine, the third child of nine children born to Onezime and Edith (Vaillancourt) Ouellette and was educated in Frenchville schools. Coming to Lewiston in the 1930's, she met and married her husband Paul Dumont. They were married for 58 years until his death in 1994. Together they owned and operated the family business, The Triangle Service Station at the corners of Campus Ave. and Sabattus St. until Mr. Dumont's retirement in 1969. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling and visiting her family in Rhode Island. She loved to knit and made hats and mittens for all her grandchildren. Her greatest love was to see and enjoy her great-grandchildren, especially her last born, Sophia. Mrs. Dumont was a member of Holy Family Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves two sons Paul Dumont Jr. and wife Claudette of Lewiston and Richard Dumont and wife Constance, also of Lewiston; Four grandchildren Donna Hopkins and her husband George of Sabattus, Bryan Dumont of Buckfield, Denise Dumont Bernier and her husband Howard of Scarborough and Daniel Dumont and wife Buffy of Lewiston; six great-grandchildren Jonathan Hopkins, Ashley, Christopher, and Benjamin Dumont, Ella Dumont Charpentier and Sophia Bernier; step great-grandchildren Brianne Gilmore, Alyssa Bernier and Ethan and Abigail Hoffay; three sisters Berdina Roy, Regina Lafayette, and Arlene Bolduc and husband Norman and two brothers Norman Ouellette and Jean Ouellette and wife Lorraine, all of Rhode Island as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Paul, two sisters Anna Michaud and Alphena Plourde and a brother Pete Ouellette. Her family would like to express their sincere thanks to the caring staff at The Sarah Frye Home, where she lived for the past year, for the wonderful care and treatment that she received while residing there, as well as to the wonderful staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Funeral notice: Dumont, Ida M. 2/23/10. Visitation at The Fortin Group / Lewiston Sun. 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church Mon. 11 AM.
