Daniel M. Asselin, 74, passed away on July 8th, 2022.
He was born on January 28th, 1948, in Lewiston where he grew up and attended school. He worked for Pioneer Plastics for many years. He was with the Lewiston School Department when he retired.
Dan enjoyed playing hockey, golf and going to the races. He helped establish and run the Contractor's Hockey League in Lewiston and helped organize and run an annual golf tournament, both of which he continued to play in until his mid-sixties. He enjoyed camping with his whole family in the summers at Muskegon (now Two Lakes) Campground and later going to Nascar races and camping with his sons.
Dan is survived by his girlfriend of 23 years: Eileen Foster of Portland, his two sons: Glen and Brian, his daughter Melisa, his daughter-in-laws: Lisa and Denise Asselin, his son-in-law Dale Darling, his grandchildren: Parker (and wife Ashley), Abby, Coby, Nate, Marelise Asselin and Jacob Darling, his nephews: Gary and Ken Landry, and his former spouse Jackie Asselin.
Dan is predeceased by his parents: Irene and Joseph Asselin, his step-mother Alma Asselin, his brother Bob "Speedy" Asselin, his sister Terry Landry and his niece Marlene Ingraham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
All who want to celebrate Dan's life are invited to join the family from 5-8 PM on Thursday July 28th at Fortin Funeral Home in Lewiston. Interment of his ashes will be on Friday July 29th at 10 AM at St. Peter's Cemetery.
