He was the loving husband of Ann Conway-Konzelman. Robert, son of the late Robert J. and Eleanor Konzelman, was born at the home of his grandparents in the Burholme section of Philadelphia on March 23, 1937.
Robert graduated from Lower Moreland High School in 1955. During high school, Robert worked for an electrical contractor and a builder. After his father's heart attack, Robert completed the plumbing and heating services at his new family home during his senior year of high school. He earned his Certificate in Electronics at Temple University Technical Institute in 1957. Robert graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology in 1975 with a BS in electrical engineering, after completing 13 years of night school.
Robert was a member of the Rockledge Fire Company, where he advanced from hose-man to lieutenant, then captain to assistant chief. A tireless volunteer, Robert was awarded a lifetime membership. He was a part time police officer for the Rockledge Police Department in his post high school years as he began raising his children. Robert worked as an engineer at Philco-Ford in Horsham until 1975 when he started working at RDL in Conshohocken. During his time at RDL, he was the design engineer in developing fire control RADAR for the Navy Aegis Class Cruiser. After leaving RDL in 2002, Robert was invited to support the Navy as a consultant for 10 years.
Robert was "the rock" of his family. He was a good and loyal man, who found humor in every situation, and brought joy to those lucky enough to know him. His caring and selfless personality will be dearly missed by all of those who knew him. Robert brought light to all of those around him and was thrilled by his ever-expanding family.
