Michael J. Halpin Michael J. Halpin passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home in Bensalem. Born and raised in Rutland, Vermont, son of the late Yvonne (Thompson) and John A. Halpin, he has been a resident of Bensalem for the past 24 years. He was a 1959 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and was a president of the Blue Circle Honor Society. Michael went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow and graduated in 1965 achieving his Master's Degree. He also pursued advanced studies at Columbia University and the University of Michigan. He was a US Navy veteran and worked in the information technology field for over 30 years. After his retirement he worked part-time at Lowe's in Langhorne, PA for several years. Michael loved the opera and classical music. He was passionate about politics, football, modern dance, various types of literature and gardening. He will be lovingly remembered as a very devoted family man. Beloved husband of Emily E. Baigis, Mr. Halpin is the loving father of Michael Baigis Halpin (Megan) and Keenan Baigis Halpin. He is the dear brother of John A. Halpin (partner, Jane Kupferer) of Rutland, VT, Thomas J. Halpin (Judith Quigley) of Devon, PA, Kathleen Halpin Canning (Patrick "Ray") of Murphys, CA and Maryanne Halpin of Rutland, VT. He will also be sadly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, from 10:00 until 11:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his memorial service will be held at 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
