Marie McCormick passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, September 11, 2018. She was 88. Heaven gained another Angel. Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Donald McCormick Sr. Don and Marie were original Levittown homeowners and moved into the Lakeside section in 1952 where they raised their six children. Marie was a devoted Catholic and a member of the St Michael the Archangel Parish Marie is survived by her children Donald Jr of Levittown, Dennis of Yardley, Kevin (Beth) of Levittown, Susan of St Petersburg, Florida and Donna (Jim) of Newtown. She was preceded in death by her second son Kenneth. She will be truly missed by her grandchildren Michelle Meehan (Paul), Kristin Miller (Scott), Megan, Ken, Kevin Jr, Christopher, and Sean McCormick, J and Erick Miller; and great grandchildren Kieran, Ryan and Gavin Meehan, Ellie and Abbey Miller, Kaylee McCormick, Chris McCormick Jr. and Emma Marie Breault. Also, she will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Judy and her cherished friends the Hannings. Second to only her family were her girlfriends from Girls High Sorority 1948 who reached their 70th year reunion this year and still maintain their friendship. It is a testament to what true friends are. “Gram” as she was affectionately known was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother and helped raise all her grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader at every sporting and school event. Gram was the family matriarch—the glue that held the family together, as well as, the “fixer” when something went wrong. She was a pillar of strength up until her last breath. She loved her Philly sports teams especially the Phillies and the Flyers and was an avid Penn State Nittany Lion fan. Marie loved to go to her happy place the beach and top on the list was LBI and St Pete Beach. Her favorite meal of the day was dessert and she loved her ice cream and sweets. She will be forever in the hearts of all those who loved her and those people whose lives she touched and will truly be missed to all who came to know her. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday September 14, 2018 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the James Dougherty Funeral Home, 2220 Trenton Rd, Levittown. Friends may also call from 9 am to 9:50 am on Saturday September 15, 2018 at St Michael the Archangel Church, Levittown, PA. Mass will be held at St Michael the Archangel Church at 10 am. Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem. One of the best ways to honor Gram is to perform an act of kindness in her memory.
