Josephine Mary Carosi, 98, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Josephine was born on October 14, 1925 to Joseph P Surace and Mary Martin Surace in Mayfield, Pennsylvania. Josephine graduated high school salutatorian in 1942. After graduation she started her first job with the New York Railroad. Later in life she worked for William H Rorer Pharmaceuticals and then the Salvation Army.
At the request of her cousin, she started a correspondence with James J Moffitt Sr. who was stationed overseas during the war. In September of 1947 James and Josephine, married and had two children, James J Moffitt Jr and Gail Ann Moffitt. In 1973 Josephine married Antonio J Carosi.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband James Moffitt Sr who passed in 1968, and brother Pasquale Surace.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Antonio Carosi, her son James Moffitt and his partner Cindy Cramer, her daughter Gail Moffitt; her grandchildren: Alexandra L. Krecker, Kendall Messick, Sean Messick; and her great-grandchildren: Natalie, Jayden and Braden.
Josephine, sweet, soft spoken but strong put everyone’s needs before her own. She was a dedicated wife, daughter, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed furniture restoration, antique hunting and baking.
Family and friends are invited to attend her graveside service on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in Josephine’s name to the Salvation Army.
