in the early morning hours of February 21, 2024. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
Born in Key West, Florida, “Jake” as he was known by most, grew up in Maryland and was very proud to be the third generation serving in the US Navy. He was not only a Veteran, he was a Coach, and Mentor to many. Jake is a member of the first graduating class of Cardinal Gibbons High School in 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland; a distinct honor known to Crusader Alums. As a young man he played baseball, earned a letter in Track and liked to work on cars. He was a youth member of the NRA and accurate shot at skeet shooting.
Jake enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict and served as a Cryptology Technician II (CT2). As a CT2, he spent some time overseas but most of his time served was at the Naval Security Station in Washington DC. It was during his time in DC that he and Patty met. They married in 1970 and settled in Langhorne where they raised their family.
While working full-time in cost accountant department, and starting a family, Jake majored in Accounting at The Fox School of Business at Temple University and graduated with his B.A. in 1980; earning his degree in four years, all at night. Once graduated, he became active in sports, playing golf with family, racquet ball, softball and indoor soccer. Many will remember Jake as “coach”. He was an active member of the CYO Board at Our Lady of Grace in Penndel and was the Head Track Coach there from 1985 through 1990. Jake was also on the board of directors and served as treasurer for the Hulmeville Soccer Club and he coached several Hulmeville teams from 1981 through 1988. Once his family was grown, he picked up baseball again, playing first base in softball in corporate and church leagues. Certainly His favorite time was playing with his Bucks Church team in the Christian Fellowship Softball League. Even when he retired from playing he faithfully attended the games and was their official score keeper.
Jake also became a talented public speaker as a member of the Doylestown Chapter of Toastmasters International and was a proud member of the American Legion.
