Donald K Bush, aged 78, of Brooksville, Florida, died from cardiac arrest Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was born February 8, 1940, in Ewing Township, New Jersey to Walter and Blanche (Sperling). Following his 1960 graduation from Ewing High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. With a home port in San Francisco, he served two tours with the Seventh Fleet as a radar operator aboard the USS Ranger (CV/CVA-61), a Forrestal-class supercarrier. His service took him far into the Pacific including Hawaii, Okinawa, the Philippines, Laos, and French Polynesia. Following an honorable discharge, he worked as a bookkeeper at Strick Trailers, FMC Corporation, Taylor Provisions, and most recently, Northampton Municipal Authority. He was an avid gardener and reader who enjoyed camping, history, travel, family gatherings, volunteering at Pennsbury Manor, events with The Navy League – Philadelphia Council, and time with friends. Through a friend made during basic training, Joseph J. Carroll, he met, dated, and married Mary Elizabeth Carroll of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were married 40 years before a 2005 divorce. Together, in Philadelphia and Bucks County Pennsylvania, they raised three children: Patricia Ann McCullough (Jeffrey) of Levittown, Pennsylvania; David Kenneth Bush of Columbus, Ohio; and Christopher Joseph Bush (Natalie) of Brooksville, Florida. He was a proud grandfather to Victoria Elizabeth Riley (Tyler) of Newtown, Pennsylvania; Matthew David Moret of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Jeffrey Arthur McCullough, Jr of Levittown, Pennsylvania; Christopher Joseph Bush, Jr of Brooksville, Florida; James David McCullough of Levittown, Pennsylvania; and Emily Monachello of Maugansville, Maryland. He is survived additionally by his brother, Robert Glenn Bush of Brooksville, Florida; three great grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew; hundreds of cousins; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Blanche; his sister, Jean Marie Vanderveer (Earl); and his beloved cocker spaniel, Daisy. The family will hold calling hours at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Interment will be held privately in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
