Born in Portage, PA, to the late Charles and Treva (McCann) Thomas, Dave graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1966, where he found the butter half of his bread in Maryann Doherty. The two were the perfect blend, whisking away into marriage in 1967 and baking up a family that would be the cherry on top of their many layered lives.
Dave was a skilled baker and entrepreneur, he owned and operated Klipple’s Pastry Shop for over two decades.
Beyond his professional life, David had a profound love for the outdoors and animals. He was an avid camper, often found at Starlite Camping Resort, and enjoyed fishing. Dave also assisted Maryann with her Girl Scout Troops, enriching many lives in the process. His love for the beach was well-known, as he spent many Mondays with Maryann packing their van with their five children and their friends for a day at the seaside.
DBT was the embodiment of the virtues he lived by: patience, a gentle temperament, and a work ethic that was beyond reproach. Whether it was his talent for understanding electrical workings or his exceptional listening skills, Dave was an individual who approached life's challenges with wisdom and integrity. To those who knew him, he was a true renaissance man, as capable with a book or a car manual as he was with the oven mitts and baking sheets. His gentle demeanor and absence of harsh words were his trademarks.
Dave was the cornerstone of the family and leaves behind a legacy as rich as buttercream frosting. He is survived by his loving wife, Maryann; his children, Michele (Frank), David (Heidi), Michael, Donna (Kevin), and Melissa (Eric); his sister, Brenda Thomas-Brewer; and a delightful assortment of ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who were the sprinkles on the cupcake of his life.
