Daniel J. Mabin

Daniel J. Mabin Daniel J. Mabin died on Monday, March 5, 2012. He was 90. Born in Long Island City, NY, on October 16, 1921 to the late Alexander and Rose (neeMcIntyre). He was a 60 year resident of Levittown and a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish. At the age of 14, Mr. Mabin took over as head of the household for his family after his father's sudden death. In 1943 he entered the Army to fight during World War II and attained the rank of Master Sergeant during which he served abroad in Germany until his discharge in 1946. Mr. Mabin reentered the Army in 1950 to fight for the Korean Conflict and served until 1951. On July 18, 1952, after his time of service to his country, Mr. Mabin moved his family to Levittown where he worked at US Steel Fairless Works during the day and Meenan Oil as a dispatcher at night. He also worked a number of various sales positions over the years. Mr. Mabin was a former chairman of the Young Republican Club in Bucks County and also ran for State Assembly in 1954. He was often considered "the greatest of the greatest generation" by his friends. Mr. Mabin will be sadly missed by his family and many, many friends he has made over the years. Beloved husband of 65 years to Sheilagh (Folkard), Mr. Mabin was the loving father of Daniel P. (Kris), Alexander C. (Vanessa), Michael J. (Marion), Sheilagh A. Moschitti (Gino), Kevin T., Maureen R. McGettigan (Daniel), Mary M. Bowe (Brian), Kathleen J. McKamey (Schaunn), Anne B. Wenderlich (Steven), Patrick A. (Donna) and the late Sean G. Mabin (Kathy). He will also be sadly missed by his 40 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. There will also be a calling hour on Friday, from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA 19054, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. RIte of Committal will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Saint Michael the Archangel Church at the above address.
