He served his country in the United States Air Force and was self employed and former co-owner of Valley Trucking.
Mr. Hooks was born February 16, 1955 in Kountze, TX to the late Felix Hooks and Margie Butler of Spurger, TX. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Harrison, stepfather, Junior Butler and mother and father-in-law, Larry and Callie Scruggs.
Survivors include his wife Cindy S. Hooks; mother, Margie Butler of Spurger, TX; two sons, Curtis Hooks of Lenoir, NC, Chad Hooks and wife Misty of Lenoir, NC, two brothers, Steve Hooks and wife Madge of Connelly Springs, NC, Wayne Harrison and wife Tona of Lenoir, NC; brother-in-law, Keith Scruggs and wife Donna of Lenoir, NC, one sister, Gale Hooks and partner Gloria Wolford of Spurger,TX; sister-in-law, Cathy S. Franklin and husband Archie of Lenoir, NC, and two grandchildren, Bryant and Callie Hooks both of Lenoir, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Reverend Daniel Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2011 at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hamby, Alex Franklin, Randy Patton, Chuck Triplett, Rick Triplett, Richard Byrd, Tony Hooks, Dennis Byrd.
