In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his infant daughter Debbie Barlowe, two brothers Aldin Barlowe and Bobby Barlowe, three sisters Sue Barlowe, Patricia Daye, and Audrey Yonce, and a daughter-in-law Gloria Barlowe.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years Shirley Barlowe, his sons David Barlowe and Wade Barlowe, his grandson Ryan Coffey, great-granddaughter Madison Coffey, great-great-grandson Joseph, two brothers Johnny Barlowe (wife Mavis) and Mike Barlowe, three sisters Dottie Bolick (husband Robert), Lynne Isaacs (husband Hal), and Tammy Teeters (husband Kenneth), and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Roy was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard in 1958. He served the city of Lenoir as a firefighter and dispatcher for 19 years before retirement due to disability. To his family, he was known as "Bud" and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle.
Private services will be held at a later date.
