Born August 22, 1934 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ralph and Elvia Underdown Pennell. Mrs. Roberts was a former member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel and a member of First Baptist Church of Arden. She served in many capacities in her church to include Acteens leader, Girls In Action Leader and puppet ministry coordinator. She loved all children, especially her own children and grandchildren. Mildred had a true passion for travel. She made trips to over 25 different countries, some of them for mission work with the International Mission Board and some were for pleasure with her family.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Blake Lee Roberts, her parents, a grandson, Sean Roberts, a brother J.D. Pennell; and a sister, Sylvia Jean Pennell.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Paul Roberts and wife Sukoshi of Cary, NC; Ron Roberts and wife Robin of Hoschton, GA; one daughter, Patty Myrick and husband Mike of Arden, NC; six grandchildren, Lacy Alford (Kenny) of Clayton; Perry Myrick (Emily) of Saluda; Logan Myrick (Emma) of Sacile, Italy; Corey Myrick of Durham; Cameron Myrick of Asheville; Drew Roberts of Hoschton, GA; and six great-grandchildren, Haley, Luke, and Ashton Alford and Lucy, Abigail and Benjamin Myrick. She is also survived by her brothers, Wayne (Elinor), Ernest, Darrell and Rick Pennell.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Whitnel Cemetery with Rev. Stuart White officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made in Mrs. Roberts name to The International Mission Board at 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond VA, 23230.
