Mr. Vines was born in Caldwell County on June 23, 1923 to the late Thomas Vines and Cora Francum Vines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Tommy, David, Howard, Walter, Dan, Bill, Fred and Arthur Vines; sisters, Lucy Crump, Rachel Greene, Nellie Setzer, and Lucille Estes,
Mr. Vines was a Veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served during WWII. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time with his family and always looked forward to his time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Dennis Lee Vines of Lenoir, Debra D. Watson of Lenoir and Susan Diane Scott of Lenoir.
Also left to cherish his memory are five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor his memory will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Isaacs officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm 4until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bryson Crump, Garrett Warren, Joshua Hall, Lee Vines, Eian Vines and John Curtis.
