Linda was born in Caldwell County to Howard and Ollie Hartley Smith on April 5, 1948. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jay Van Bentley; a son, Vance Allen Bentley; and a daughter Kimberly Bentley.
Linda was a member of Tabernacle Advent Christian Church where she was active in Betty Jo Walker Women’s Circle as well as all aspects of church activities, including the preparations for the communion services. She was a loving, compassionate wife and mother and was a friend to all she met. She always loved participating in church and community activities that benefitted those less fortunate than herself.
Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Michael, Jay Edward and Jonathan; a brother, Gerald Smith; two sisters, Clydene Happer and Mary Duncan; a niece, Elizabeth Duncan; five grandchildren, a step grandchild, and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 2:oo pm, at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Copeland officiating. Men of the church will serve as pallbearers.
