Mr. Vanstory was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Campbell Vanstory; a son, John Allison Vanstory, and two brothers, James Leland Vanstory and Charles David Vanstory.
Mr. Vanstory is survived by a son, Charles Marvin Vanstory and his wife Sandra; a daughter, Angela Vanstory Ward and her husband, Bill; granddaughters Mendy Seidel, Lori McKenzie, Tanya Bohan, Amanda Lanzetta; grandsons, Justin Vanstory and Justin Ward as well as eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Olin, Mr. Vanstory was the son of Charles Allison and Lessie Mullis Vanstory. He was a graduate of Harmony High School and N.C. State with a degree in Agriculture. He was a member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity. Mr. Vanstory’s work with 4-H is recorded in the archives of his alma mater. He worked for many years as Director of Field Service at Carnation Company in Statesville and as an Agricultural Extension Agent for Caldwell County.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home, Wilkesboro Blvd, Lenoir with a service immediately following. Interment will be at Snow Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Olin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caldwell County Hospice & Palliative Care 902 Kirkwood Street Lenoir, NC 28645, or Snow Creek Methodist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund Snow Creek Road Olin, NC.
