She was born on May 30, 1925 in Caldwell County to the late William Propst and Annie Bowers Propst. Mrs. Corpening was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the Usher Board. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Corpening was the perfect example of a loving, Christian mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Sado Corpening; sons, Marshall Corpening and John Corpening; daughter, Agnes Corpening Logan; and sister Margie Propst Patterson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Ernest Corpening, William Corpening, and Clyde Corpening, all of Lenoir; brother, David Propst of Lenoir; sisters, Geneva Propst and Mary Francis Propst, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; twenty-five grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Corpening will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 with Rev. James Perkins, Rev. James Wilfong, and Rev. Jimmy Norwood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
