She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee to the late Reta and Rex Whaley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Jeffries; one brother, Edward Whaley; three sisters, Maude Chatman, Jane McMackin and Jo Ann Hood; a grandson, William Grey Jeffries; and one granddaughter, Jacquline Shea Watson.
Mrs. Jeffries was retired from the Salvation Army Thrift Store. She was a member of West Lenoir Baptist Church and a member of the West Lenoir Choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Watson and husband Scott of Kernersville, NC ; one son, Richard Jeffries and wife Virginia “Ginny” of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Katie Jeffries; three grandsons, Aaron Pfahlert and Brandon Pfahlert of Lenoir, NC, and Shaun W. Watson of Kernersville, NC; five great grandchildren, Tyler, Ashlyn, Zack, Christian and Mary; she is also survived by a host of friends and church family.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home with Rev. James Lockee and Rev. Rick Safriet officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
