Mr. Crisp was born in Caldwell County to the late Ernest Crisp and Mamie Bryant Crisp. He worked for Hammary Furniture for 38 years and was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Howard, William and AB Crisp, and a sister, Eloise Crisp.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Vanetta Collins Crisp of the home; his son, Doyle Lee Crisp of Lenoir; his daughter, Linda Sue Crisp of Bethlehem; his brothers, Donald Crisp and wife Mary of Lenoir, and Dermont Crisp and wife Wilma of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Nicole Danielle Crisp of the home, Jessie Crisp of Taylorsville, Susan Jane Cassidy Burwell of Conway, SC, Kenneth Jason-Lee Cassidy of Rhodhiss; his great grandchildren, Corporal Jeremy Scott-Lee Burwell Jr., Cody Michael Burwell, Elizabeth Brooke Burwell and Alexandria Morgan Burwell and a special cousin, Larry Ace Crisp.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September, 26, 2015 in Pendry’s Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Horace Minton officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Kale, Josh Shatley, Corporal Jeremy Burwell, Cody Burwell, Douglas Suddreth and David Crisp. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Scott Burwell, Lonnie Pope, Richard Suddreth, Gary and Darrell Crisp, Jason Cassidy, Joe Sumpter, Marvin Williams, Harold Early, Dane Phillips, Dale, Kenny and Larry Crisp.
