Alexus was born in Caldwell County and was the daughter of Tiffany Wilcox Phillips of Hudson. She was in many pageants where she won lots of trophies and beautiful crowns. She was a cheerleader for Southern Caldwell Optimist on the Lakers basketball team for many years. Alexus also cheered for Hudson Optimist. While in second grade she was chosen for student role model of the year and top AR reader at Valmead Basic School. When in third grade Alexus was inducted into AIG where she participated in the program until she left middle school. Alexus was a cheerleader for Hudson Middle School. She also played the flute and oboe for the middle school band. When Alexus attended South Caldwell High School she continued her activities in the South Caldwell Marching Band by being a member of the Color Guard. She also cheered for the South Caldwell Spartans. Alexus was in many advanced and honor classes there. She, every chance she got, gave blood to the American Red Cross to aide others. Alexus loved helping others and gave a great fight to stop bullying! She was a star employee at Bojangles in Hudson. She was just a pure joy to be around. Alexus was by far a wonderful daughter and loving friend.
She is preceded in death by her great grandmother, Elmina Summerlin; great grandparents, Roger and Lillie Holtsclaw; step great grandparent, Harlie Wagoner.
In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory are her grandparents, Jerry and Vanessa Holtsclaw of Hudson; great grandparents, John Wilcox of Hudson and Shirley Wagoner of Hudson and Etta Phillips of Hudson; aunts, Tabetha Cook of Hudson and husband Nathan Cook, Donna Wagoner of Hudson and fiancé Casper Perez; great aunts, Shirley Chandler of Lenoir and husband Melvin, and Vivian Wilcox of Newton and fiancé Rodney Samson; uncle, Scott Burwell of Conway, SC and wife Susan Burwell; cousins, Lea Perez of Hudson, Cody Burwell, Jeremy Burwell, Elizabeth Burwell and Alexandria Burwell of South Carolina, Autumn Cook and Tanner Cook of Maiden.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 1, 2013 at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. All that attend are asked to wear there P.J.’s and no black garments are requested. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Bob Holtsclaw officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Cook, Casper Perez, Rodney Samson, Dallas Wilcox, Sr., Austin Wilcox and Kenneth Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Mastroly, Jimmy Adkins, Dillion McDonald, Masen Wilcox and Robert Marsh.
