Rachel C. Newsom

Rachel C. Newsom, age 88, passed from this life peacefully, on May 31, 2014, with her family by her side in Spring Valley, CA. Her home-going service will be Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Life Church, 1448 Peach Ave., in El Cajon, CA. Viewing will be held at the same location at 10 a.m., preceding the service. Her final resting place will be in Ozark, MO with a graveside service.

Rachel was born November 1, 1925, in Christian County, Missouri to William Monroe Hale and Lillie Ruth Macomb Hale. Rachel, along with her husband, moved to El Cajon, CA in 1997 to be near their son and daughter. For the last two months of her life, she lived with her daughter, Anita Blouin in Spring Valley, California.

To her family back home she was affectionately known as "Toey", but to her grandchildren, great grands and church family, she was known as "Granny". She kept an abundant supply of candy and popsicles for her great grands and a purse full of mints for all to share.

Rachel loved crocheting, embroidering and quilting. Her joy in life was baking cookies and bread to give away to everyone. She loved God with all her heart and her greatest joy was in giving to others. She truly lived a selfless life.

She is survived by her daughter: Anita K. Blouin (son-in-law Mark), son: John D. Newsom (daughter-in-law Anna), sisters: Eva Vaughn, Imagene Eddings, Mary Wildon, brother: Roger Hale, 6 grandchildren: Mark Blouin II, Nathaniel Blouin, Miranda (Blouin) Bergren, Jessica (Blouin) Fitch, Kyle Newsom and John Newsom. She was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse of 42 years, C. John Newsom, brothers: Oliver Hale, Clifford Hale, Joe Hale and sister; Dortha Perkins.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We will joyfully meet again on that blessed heavenly shore.
